Naar aanleiding van de recente verschijning van de publicatie Queer Flora, Fauna, and Funga, samengesteld door Frances Cannon en uitgegeven in de Art & Earth-reeks van Valiz, nodigt RADIUS je van harte uit voor een middag rond queer ecologieën, met presentaties door en een paneldiscussie met verschillende auteurs van het boek. Het doel van dit evenement is om aan de hand van deze nieuwe publicatie kunstenaars, wetenschappers, curatoren, filosofen, activisten, onderzoekers en iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in het bespreken van genderdiversiteit bij meer-dan-menselijke bestaansvormen bij elkaar te brengen.

Franky (Frances) Cannon is a writer, editor, educator, and artist. She is the Reviews Editor for Poetry Wales, a Research Associate of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), an editorial reader for The Kenyon Review, and an affiliated scholar at Kenyon College. She is the author and illustrator of several books: Walter Benjamin Reimagined (MIT Press, 2019), The Highs and Lows of Shapeshift Ma and Big-Little Frank (Gold Wake Press, 2017), Tropicalia (Vagabond Press, 2016), Fling Diction (Green Writers Press, 2024), Willow and the Storm, (Green Writers Press, 2025), Vernal Thaw (Set Margins’ Press, 2026), and Queer Flora, Fauna, Funga (Valiz Press, 2026). Her work can also be found in journals and magazines, including The New York Times. Franky curates the digital publication queerflora.org.
Joost Emmerik (1979) is a garden and landscape architect and head of the Master’s programme in Landscape Architecture at the Amsterdam Academy. A firm belief in the evoking power of gardens and a need for them in this day and age form the basis of his work. The garden as a room, not belonging to mankind, but to nature.
Lorena Solís Bravo is a Peruvian artist based in Amsterdam whose practice merges scientific research, speculative thought, and poetry into films, performances, sculptures, and texts. Their work explores identity within the modern-colonial subject by tracing symbiotic relations with other species, dissolving boundaries between human and non-human. Using tools such as 3D modeling, CT scanning, and electron microscopy alongside alternative narratives, Solís Bravo critiques the hegemony of Western science and reimagines it from decolonial perspectives.
