Do you feel trapped by the internet? Are you looking for ways to dance it out, escape the power of seduction your phone holds over you? Tonight, we celebrate not only the latest book by media theorist and internet critic Geert Lovink, Stuck on the Platform (Valiz, 2022), but we also dance our butts off to music that celebrates the offline sensation that is our bodies. 

To start with, Geert Lovink will go into a titillating conversation with researcher and curator Annet Dekker, after which the night takes a joyous turn with a live drag performance by Lucien Le Chevalier (a.k.a. Anastasia Dolitsay), a french boi who really (REALLY) loves horses, pop trash and clouds, as well as showing off his little derrière. 

And yes! There will be plenty of room (pun intended) to dance your internet and/or platform-related sorrows away. Eleni Maragkou (a.k.a. justin case), nightlife fan and editor-producer at Next Nature Network, provides tunes for us; think hardcore techno. To close, Maurice Dharampal (a.k.a. Mo Wrights), (new) media researcher, lifts us into another, platform-free dimension with some festive spins.

Geert Lovink is a Dutch media theorist, internet critic and author of Dark Fiber (2002), Networks Without a Cause (2012,Sad by Design (2019) and Stuck on the Platform (Valiz 2022). Het is the founder of the Institute of Network Cultures and Professor of Art and Network Cultures at the University of Amsterdam.

Annet Dekker is a curator and researcher. She is Assistant Professor Media Studies: Archival and Information Studies at the University of Amsterdam and Visiting Professor and co-director of the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image at London South Bank University. She has previously been Researcher Digital Preservation at Tate, London, core tutor at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam and Fellow at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam. She has published in numerous collections and journals and is the editor of several volumes, including Lost and Living [in] Archives (Valiz 2017) and Curating Digital Art (Valiz 2021).
