On Tuesday 22 September, editor/author Frances Cannon, together with author and artist Erik Peters, will present the new publication Queer Flora, Fauna, and Funga! They will go into conversation about the different aspects of queerness in nature and how you can use art to portray this, in feminist book shop Savannah Bay!

Franky (Frances) Cannon is a writer, editor, educator, and artist. She is the Reviews Editor for Poetry Wales, a Research Associate of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), an editorial reader for The Kenyon Review, and an affiliated scholar at Kenyon College. She is the author and illustrator of several books: Walter Benjamin Reimagined (MIT Press, 2019), The Highs and Lows of Shapeshift Ma and Big-Little Frank (Gold Wake Press, 2017), Tropicalia (Vagabond Press, 2016), Fling Diction (Green Writers Press, 2024), Willow and the Storm, (Green Writers Press, 2025), Vernal Thaw (Set Margins’ Press, 2026), and Queer Flora, Fauna, Funga (Valiz Press, 2026). Her work can also be found in journals and magazines, including The New York Times. Franky curates the digital publication queerflora.org.

Erik Peters is an interdisciplinary artist and artistic researcher engaging with the worldbuilding potentialities seeded in the act of storytelling, uncovering how speculative fiction can germinate new universes of being through collaborative formats of making, researching and staging. Exploring queer ecology as a roadmap to alternative futures, they weave pathways between the possible worlds persistently emerging from a world in planetary crisis. They create immersive scenarios about possible futures; imaginative worlds staged as spatial and interactive installations, workshops, performances and audiovisual works.
