Join us for a dynamic evening reflecting on the continuing relevance of books in a digital age—through the lens of the ‘making of’ of Gert Dumbar • Gentleman Maverick of Dutch Design. This event brings together the key contributors behind this book to share insights into publishing, design, writing, and editorial collaboration. Author/main editor Max Bruinsma will speak on the importance of archival work and storytelling through sketches. Designer Renate Boere explores book design as a tool for reflection, change, and collaboration. Assistant-designer Giang Nguyen offers a perspective on the editorial process and its meaning for young designers.
The conversation will be moderated by Dennis ter Wal (Valiz). Expect a layered discussion on this editorial journey and why book making still matters today. We will close the evening with an informal wrap-up and a toast, courtesy of Valiz.
