The Best Dutch Book Designs 2017

Wonderful news! Three of our books have been selected for the 'Best Dutch Book Designs' / De Best Verzorgde Boeken this year! Three very different, but equally handsome books: Marjan Teeuwen—Destroyed House, Rafaël Rozendaal—Everything, Always, Everywhere and Urban Challenges—Design Thinking for the Future of Urban Regions (published by imprint trancityxvaliz).

Thanks a lot and congratulations to the amazing designers at Haller Brun (Marjan Teeuwen), Studio Remco van Bladel (Rafaël Rozendaal), Catalogtree (Urban Challenges), to printers Wilco Art Books and Die Keure, litographer Mariska Bijl, and to everyone who but their heart, soul, sweat, words, art, and/or money into these books.

Marjan Teeuwen—Destroyed House
Marjan Teeuwen (*1953, NL) creates large- scale architectural installations in buildings that are demolished after her interventions. This book presents the 'Destroyed Houses' series, plus the Archive series, she created since 2008. Six essays reflect on recurring themes in her work.
Authors: Ernst van Alphen, Maarten Doorman, Ludo van Halem, Hans den Hartog Jager, Meta Knol, Wilma Sütö
Design: Haller Brun

Rafaël Rozendaal—Everything, Always, Everywhere
Rafaël Rozendaal’s work takes shape through a range of transformations—from movement into abstraction, from virtual into physical space, and from website to print. This book reflects on his still young but vast oeuvre and investigates how the artist reacts to the ever growing range of digital possibilities.
Authors: Marvin Jordan, Kodama Kanazawa, Christiane Paul, Margriet Schavemaker
Design: Studio Remco van Bladel

Urban Challenges, Resilient Solutions—Design Thinking for the Future of Urban Regions
This book presents models, tools and ideas for the design of healthy cities. Drawing on research carried out by the Research Center Future Urban Regions, it demonstrates how urban research by design addresses urgent problems such as climate change, inequality, and large-scale migration.
