Anita and 124 other portraits is a survey of the work that the photographers Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm have produced from 1997 to 2007. Blommers and Schumm play with the conventions of fashion and photography and refuse to treat fashion as a fixed format. This is the first publication to bring together all the different aspects of their work. The photographs are intended as portraits and are ordered alphabetically, which results in unexpected, random combinations. Complete series are presented at the back part of the book, and these photographs are shown in their original published context, often in the lay-out of magazines.

Blommers & Schumm have worked for a variety of people, including graphic designer Jop van Bennekom and several fashion designers, among them Viktor & Rolf. Their photographs have been published internationally in magazines such as Re-Magazine, Another magazine, Self Service, Purple, Interview, Dazed & Confused, i-D, Japanese Vogue, and Fantastic Man, while their work has been exhibited in the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, the Groninger Museum, Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, and the ICA in Boston.
