About the author(s) (pdf)
The Return of the Shreds examines the issue of (cultural) globalization. What is it that still defines our (cultural) identity? What power of expression does art have amidst these global entanglements? In lavish visuals, five spatial installations by Chinese artist Ni Haifeng offer a penetrating look at our globalizing world and at the way in which (inter-)cultural processes unfold. The Return of the Shreds provides, in words and images, a stunning impression of the art project of the same name realized in Leiden (NL) in 2007 by visual artist Ni Haifeng and art historian Kitty Zijlmans.
