In Vernieuwing van de stadsvernieuwing: Pleidooi voor ontwerpkracht [The Renewal of Urban Renewal: Making the Case for a New Force in Design] three essays describe the history of urban renewal in the Netherlands since 1970, the tasks that architecture and urban planning were faced with and the new opportunities for inner-city renovation at a time when the national government has stopped its large-scale programmes.
Henk Engel is associate professor architecture at the TU Delft.
