The call to imagine Europe is hardly new, yet it has recently acquired a particular urgency. Beneath this lies a growing sense that something fundamental is shifting in how Europe understands itself, and how it is perceived. Political and cultural tensions are testing principles that once seemed foundational.
Through a variety of contributions, authors explore what Europe means today and what it might become tomorrow. Three central questions emerged from this exploration: Do we need a European dream? Is culture sidelined in Europe? And: Is Europe a project of values, still? The responses show that culture is not an accessory to Europe; it is part of its very groundwork; a space of orientation and possibilities.
