The call to rethink Europe’s future is hardly new, yet it has recently acquired a particular urgency. Beneath this lies a growing sense that something fundamental is shifting in how Europe understands itself and how it is perceived. Political and cultural tensions are testing principles, on culture and solidarity, that once seemed foundational.

Three central questions run through the book: Do we need a European dream? Is culture sidelined in Europe? And is Europe a project of values, still?
The responses show that although Europe may not always serve as a shared horizon of desire, it remains an unavoidable horizon of concern.
